video response:
Hello my name is John David Waugh III, I am a sophomore here at the real USC, the University of South Carolina. I am currently a Phys Ed major but next semester will be a history major. I choose this video because I feel that schools in general have not embraced technology like I feel they should have.
Technology makes mostly everything more easy to use and understand. I think the video gives very creative ways to implement technology into our education system. In my response video I try to show that the more technology is embraced the more personal and more complete education can be for a student. The ability to communicate more efficiently with teachers is essential in the learning process. I don’t believe it takes the knowing of theories of Piaget and Vygotsky to understand that the more you have school at your fingertips the chances of you understanding it are much greater. The example I use in my video of USC signing a contract with Apple to have a application on an Ipod that has your complete text books and can be interactive to where you can send in assignments like chapter questions. Another advantage you would have is the ability to copy text that you have a question about and paste it in a text message and that way the teacher could know your exact question and what you are having problems with. The technology is already here and able to do this it is just a matter of administration thinking outside the box and seeing that this would be a great thing for the University, to put it on the cutting edge of all universities in the world. That is part of the problem with education now, nobody is thinking outside of the box about education. I think it is time for that to change. So ask yourself future educators... are you doing the best you can to think outside the box and embrace technology in your classroom?
