So this is what I  think...

-Technology plays a LARGE role in our lives today, and will continue to become more prominate over the years.

-Our job as educators is to ensure that children have EVERY opportunity to succede in life.

-In the past worksheets and simple class activities were sufficient in preparing children for the world.

-In todays society technology like computer programs and smart boards are what is required for a quality education.

Some one a little more experienced...

- Lev Vygotsky's theory of social cultural perpespective states that ...

"emphasizing the importance of society and culture in promoting cognitive development"

-Vygotsky's concern was keeping education relevent with society.

-Basically saying that keeping classrooms modern is the only way to successfully enhance cognitive development and be certain that children are ready to embarke on the "real world" after school.

-Jean Piaget says that: "  interactions with ones physical and social enviornments are essential for cognitive development"

- today web pages, and other educational soft ware are childrens enviornment.

- We have to make sure that they are prepared for any work and class room setting.

-This can be done as early as preschool with games that teach numbers and lettter....anything to expose them to the world of technology.

Soooo why do I think what I think?

For me, technology was not a large part of my education. I can only do basic task with computer.( believe me the wiki is pushing my skill level!) I feel as though the lack of education about technology has hindered me today. If I had been given the opportunity to become more fluent with technology in general then I believe I would have more confidence and just the basic know how to intergrate technology into my future classroom, as well as my own education now!
